We created this private booking site specifically for our friends, family, and word-of-mouth referrals for our vacation home in Shaver Lake, CA. We much prefer direct bookings over platforms like Airbnb or VRBO — not only because those sites add extra fees for guests, but because they also take a large portion of our earnings, which forces us to rent the home far more often than we’d like.

With this link, you’ll have direct access to our calendar and the ability to book with us personally. After reviewing availability, please submit an inquiry through our contact page so we can confirm your stay.

Booking Details & Important Notes

• Rates listed here are exclusive to friends and family using this link

• Reservations are first come, first served

• While we would love for this home to be filled entirely with people we know, it does operate as a business and relies on consistent bookings

• If someone books through Airbnb or VRBO before we confirm your inquiry, we must honor the first confirmed reservation

2026 Friends & Family Pricing

Our pricing on this site is pre-set for the entire year, regardless of season or demand — unlike Airbnb or VRBO, where rates fluctuate.

If you happen to find a lower nightly rate on Airbnb or VRBO, please feel free to book there. Just keep in mind that those platforms add taxes and service fees, whereas our pricing here is simple and transparent.

Nightly Rates

• Weekdays (Monday–Thursday): $425/night

• Weekends (Friday–Sunday): $500/night

Cleaning Fee

• A $300 flat cleaning fee applies to all stays, regardless of length

This fee goes directly to our amazing cleaner, Cam. If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting him, you know how hard he works. Our 2,600 sq ft home is fully tiled and takes many hours to clean properly. We do not profit from this fee — it simply ensures the home is spotless for every guest.

A Note From the Heart

We understand that our pricing may feel high to some friends or family members, and we truly respect that everyone has different budgets. While we’d love to offer free stays or deep discounts, the reality is that we have poured our heart, soul, and life savings into this home.

With the cost of ownership and the value of the property, we aren’t able to rent it at deeply discounted rates. Shaver Lake has many wonderful and more affordable options, and we completely understand if our home isn’t the right fit for everyone.

What we can promise is this:
The Newski Nest is peaceful, thoughtfully crafted, and tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac. It’s an oasis — a place built intentionally for families and friends to unplug, reconnect, and create lasting memories. That vision is priceless to us, and we hope you feel it the moment you walk through the door.
